NASA gets to fly the cool birds! Digital Fly-By-Wire project pioneered the use of an electronic flight-control system coupled with a digital computer to replace conventional mechanical flight controls. A modified F-8 DFBW Crusader was the first to be used to validate the concept in 1972 at the Flight Research Center (now Dryden). It was the forerunner of the fly-by-wire flight control systems now used on today's military and civil aircraft to make them safer, more maneuverable and more efficient. #f8crusader #dfbw #nasa #boneyardsafari #aviationsafari
