The Apollo Soyuz Test Project Saturn IB launch KSC’s Launch Complex 39B in 1975. Aboard the Apollo Command Module were ASTP Astronauts Thomas Stafford, Vance Brand and Donald Slayton. It was the first international crewed spaceflight with a joint U.S.-U.S.S.R. rendezvous and docking mission. Here is Apollo 9 Lunar Module (LM), in lunar landing configuration, photographed from the Command Module (CSM) on the fifth day of the mission. Apollo 9 remained in low Earth orbit for 10 days to verify the flight readiness of the Lunar Module.
