Here is USS Lexington CV-2 firing her 8in guns in 1928. The Bureau of Construction and Repair was not convinced that aircraft were a sufficient armament for this ship and mandated that it have the 8”/55 caliber guns. #usslexington #cv2 #boneyardsafari #navalsafari #aviationsafari
