Inverted C-130 at Rome Lab
When we said inverted we didn’t expect to find a C-130 inverted! As we share about the Rome Laboratory or Rome Air Development Center we will take a look through the aircraft tested and learn about the program. Often referred to as the Upside Down Air Force the facility tested how effective the aircraft antenna was from various angles. The pedestal could rotate, tip and spin the aircraft in various ways in order to find the strengths and weaknesses it’s antennas had. It provided a cost saving measure compared to flying the aircraft. Here is a C-130 in the mid 1980’s being tested. #romelab #c130 #usaf #kc135 #aviationsafari #boneyardsafari
