A bit of history of the A-6 Intruder

Did you know that the A-6 Intruder originally known as the YA2F-1 was initially designed with with exhasut nozzles that could swivel to 23 degrees downward. This was part of the STOL requirement that the US Navy had requested. The idea was dropped due to the complexity as well as cost and training that would be involved and never used on production models.
